How Facebook Can Beat Groupon: By Making Deals Social
Seems like Facebook is really trying to utilize the advantage of being “social” to gain more profits and taking the company to another level. It is planning to provide Groupon-style Deals feature in the next few weeks. Users will receive deals that they expressed interested in the news feeds and purchases made will be displayed publicly as well. In response to the privacy concerns, Facebook is giving users the option to opt out of this feature. It would be interesting to see if Facebook is going to affect Groupon with its social graph and news feeds in the long run. Despite the fact that Groupon isn’t social, but it has established its service in over 500 markets and has an estimated of $2 billions revenue a year. Both companies have their own advantages in the deals market and with more competitions in the business, the greater deals and services the consumers will likely to get. As a consumer who loves using coupons, I am very excited and looking forward to what Facebook has to offer that is different and better than Groupon.
